MINUTES OF THE EXTRAORDINARY MEETING OF ASHURST PARISH COUNCIL, HELD AT ASHURST VILLAGE
HALL AT 7PM ON WEDNESDAY 25TH APRIL 2022


To discuss any questions submitted by the public.


Some general concerns were expressed regarding the planning application outlined in 3 below, including the
unsuitability of the proposed access, regarding location and visibility. This proposed additional access to the property
was felt to be quite inappropriate.

1. Apologies for Absence.
None received for this meeting.


2. Declaration of Members’ Interests.
Cllr Fischel declared a personal interest as a neighbour.


3. Planning Matters: To comment on planning applications received from Horsham District Council.
Case No: DC/22/0601: Creation of a single crossover for vehicle access from School Lane to the barn
located on the Batts property. Batts School Lane Ashurst West Sussex *.
The Clerk was asked to submit the following:
Stance: Object
Comments: Ashurst Parish Council objects on the basis of poor access and poor visibility on a blind
corner. In addition, there are concerns over road safety with the location close to the primary
school.
This application for additional access is felt to be unnecessary since access to the barn is possible
from the existing entrance and approach drive to the main house.


Due to the nature of the information concerning staff and salary this item was taken under Standing Order
11 and was discussed in Closed Session. Those present other than Parish Councillors left the meeting.

4. To agree the contract and rate of pay for the new Clerk*. The contract and rates of pay were duly discussed
and agreed. Her appointment to commence on 1st May 2022.
The Chairman closed the meeting at 7.40PM
