Dear Ashurst Residents

Given the shock of Vanessa's untimely death, if you have overlooked completing and returning the questionnaire on the New Sports Building, this is just to let you know that Ashurst Parish Council won't be discussing the feedback from this survey before the week beginning 13th October. Since the Council is keen for as many Questionnaires to be returned (to the Ashurst Parish Clerk) as possible, it will be accepting any further outstanding submissions between now and up to and including 10th October.

Connections with the famous

Sir Lawrence Olivier lived in Ashurst with his wife, Dame Joan Plowright, until his death in 1989. His funeral was held in St James' Church but his ashes are interred in Poet's Corner in Westminster Abbey.

Margaret Fairless Barber, better known as Michael Fairless, is buried in Ashurst Church. After her death in 1901 her book 'The Roadmender' became a best-seller.

Paul McCartney and Wings filmed the video for Wonderful Christmas Time in The Fountain Inn in 1979.
